Intake. . Intake appointments can be scheduled by calling 847-933-0051, ext. 424. Those who have questions about special needs can contact the Intake Coordinator at ext. 455. During a phone intake appointment, an intake worker gathers information on the client’s reasons for seeking treatment and some personal background. The client then needs to submit proof of income and insurance. The client is then placed on the waiting list for the requested service.

Once assigned, the client will receive one or more of the following services:

Mental health counseling. Services are provided for individuals, couples, children or families. Turning Point accepts Medicaid, Medicare, General Assistance, and some private insurance. For those who do not have insurance, a sliding fee scale based on income offers services for a minimum of $45 per hour of treatment. These fees are based on income and go up to $150.

Case management. Medicaid and General Assistance also cover case management, offering help by connecting clients with resources such as disability benefits, job services, housing and others. For Medicare, private insurance, and self-pay clients the case management rate is a flat $75/hour.

Psychiatric services. Psychiatric services are available for clients who also have ongoing therapy or case management. Clients can be referred to a psychiatrist once they have completed a mental health assessment and treatment plan with their individual therapist or case manager. This process usually takes 6-8 weeks after the first meeting with the assigned therapist. For clients without insurance,  the initial evaluation is $180. Follow-up appointments are $90.

Psychosocial rehabilitation. We provide a variety of PSR groups that focus on life skills and management for adults with severe and persistent mental illness. These clients also have an agency therapist or case manager. Similar to psychiatric services, clients are referred to this program after completing a mental health assessment and treatment plan with either a therapist or case manager. It usually takes about 6-8 weeks/sessions with the therapist or case manager before a client can be referred to the program. Medicaid will cover PSR groups. Out of pocket, these cost $16/group.

Group therapy. A number of outpatient groups are available, including those on anger management and mental illness with substance abuse. Clients interested in groups only are referred through the triage process; those desiring both individual and group therapy can sign up for groups with the help of their individual therapist.
