Paths to Recovery
Dear Friends,
The wonderful visit with Ted and Kay Thomas continues! This morning, we hosted them at TP for a series of in-house gatherings, but I am writing this afternoon to let you know that we had a terrific Paths to Recovery event last night. We sold out the Skokie Theater for Ted’s film, “Journey of Recovery,” and had a lively panel discussion following the film that featured Ted, Dan Wasmer, our DHS Regional Manager, our own Dr. Noorani, Laura Gerber, Tina Cortez, Emily Bates, and Julie Rooney. Each person spoke about the many ways that Turning Point’s recovery model reflects Ted’s conscientious and courageous response to his diagnosis of bipolar disorder.
The “After the Show” event was equally festive and successful, with more than 40 people joining us for hors d’oeurves and a great conversation led by our Board President, Bob Carty. We had a chance to look more deeply into Ted’s experience as well as our own concerns about the quality and accessibility of mental health care for all.
We are especially grateful to First Bank & Trust and the DoubleTree Hotel and Conference Center North Shore, who sponsored these events, and Mark Schneiderman, Executive Director of the Skokie Park District, and Howard Meyer, President of the Skokie Chamber of Commerce, who helped us to find locations and resources at a critical time. Community support is so important and we sincerely appreciate these partnerships with our neighbors.
Sincerely,
Ann Fisher Raney, CEO
