details

In an effort to promote community mental health and fight stigma, Turning Point invites you to participate in a creative project to better understand people with mental illness. Please join us! Think of a turning point in your life; it could be a self-discovery, a realization about family or upbringing, an “a ha” moment of insight, a healing that has taken place within you, or a secret you no longer wish to carry, to name a few. Write/illustrate it on a 4x6 postcard, decorate and color your turning point card and drop it in the mail addressed: Turning Point, 8324 Skokie Boulevard, Skokie, IL 60077.

Through drawing color, collage and print, these cards will create a large display of anonymous experiences that collectively represent the healing that takes place through self-exploration and self-discovery. As we share our personal experiences, we create bridges that connect us in our common goal to strengthen our community and better understand and help those who may be compromised or at risk. We may post your card on our website, in a public setting or in something that we publish.

To help inspire you, consider the following:
Are there symbols, shapes and words that describe your turning point?
Are there patterns that describe your turning point?
What colors represent your turning point?
What feelings describe your turning point?
